Scanning

Over the years many people have collected a number of photographic transparencies which are quite often stored in the loft and forgotten. Using professional scanning equipment we are now able to bring your forgotten transparencies to life by creating a DVD or video slide show. This is an easy and convenient way to access slides without having to set up projection equipment.

Normally we scan at a resolution of 800dpi to a target size of a standard 6”x 4” photo. Colour correction and enhancement is applied if necessary.  The finished DVD or video produced shows each slide for 10 seconds (this can be altered at your request) before fading into the next.  

When scanned in the above way, it costs £0.60 per slide to transfer to DVD or video. This may seem a little expensive, but when scanned in this way, it is only possible to process around 20 slides per hour.  We also give you a FREE CD ROM of the scanned images for you to easily access on a computer and to print from.

These slide shows also make great family gifts (our busiest time is just before Christmas); additional DVDs can be produced for £5.00 and additional videos for £8.00.

We can produce a cheaper version if we scan at a lower resolution, but the quality is not as good.

If there are any special slides which you would like to be professionally printed this can also be done for you, at anything up to A2 size.  We would quote on an individual basis for this service depending on size and quantity required.  Please contact us for details.

 

We are also able to offer professional scanning (and printing) services for other non-copyright material, ie schematics, children’s artwork, personal Christmas or birthday cards, scanned at 48 bit colour resolution.  Prices will be per scan and proof prints (about £15 as a guide), adjusted to print well, and then per unit printed thereafter.  For example, most A6 cards will cost about 75p each, including an envelope.  Interior printing costs extra.

 

Video Services

We are able to transfer to DVD or video any home movie tapes or non- copyright material.  This includes, VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, Video8, Hi8, Digital8, Mini DV, 8cm DVD and Betamax. Any single copy costs £10 to either DVD or video but if you have lots of tapes or require editing or multiple copies, let us know and we will quote you on an individual basis. Any older and rarer formats can be converted but need to be sent away and are quoted for separately.  

 

Ciné Transfer

 

We are able to copy old standard or super 8 ciné to either DVD or video.  Other film, such as 16mm, can be transferred but this currently has to be sent away (but we’re working on it!)

The minimum cost for a single 50ft film is £10 and each 50ft reel thereafter is an extra £6.00.  If you have larger reels or a large quantity of film, let us know what you have and we will quote you on an individual basis.

These older films make great family gifts and as with the slide transfer service, additional DVDs and videos can be produced for £5.00 and £8.00 respectively.

 

Audio Services

 

We can transfer just about any audio format including open reel, cassette, vinyl and Mini Disc to CD but as with video transfer, it must be non-copyright material.

Up to 80 minutes can be stored on a CD. A single straight copy from one audio source costs £7.50 but when editing is involved (e.g. putting several audio clips onto one disc) this is charged according to the time it takes.  Again, let us know what you have and what you want and we will quote accordingly.  Once the CD is produced, duplicate copies can be made for £4.00 each, or less if you require a large quantity.
